About Big House 5K

The second annual Big House 5K: Trail to the Victors presented by Toyota is an exciting running event for the regional Midwest area. The University of Michigan's rich athletics tradition began in 1865 and continues to this day, with the Wolverines claiming more than 50 national championships in 12 sports. Our students, faculty and staff also regularly participate in dozens of intramural, club sport and fitness activities.

The race, owned and managed by the University of Michigan Athletic Department working in conjunction with the Ann Arbor Track Club, is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, and will begin near the Stephen M. Ross Athletic Campus and finish on the field of the revered University of Michigan football stadium, the Big House.

In 2014, $96,000 was donated to six local, non-profit beneficiaries. We look forward to again partnering with local beneficiaries and providing them a platform to raise awareness and funds toward their cause.

On Saturday afternoon (April 11), we invite you to pick up your race packet at the main entrance to Crisler Center from 12-5 p.m. Race day events include only a 5K. The 5K is a certified course.

The Course

The 5K race provides a scenic course, highlighting many historic U-M buildings. Runners will begin by running on State Street near the Al Glick Field House and historic Yost Arena, head north to run by the famous Law Quad, experience the campus by running past the West and East Hall en route to the view the Bell Tower in the distance, pass the Michigan Union and head back toward the iconic Michigan Stadium to finish the run at the 50-yard line of the Big House. With a relatively flat course the Big House 5K is a great opportunity to set a personal-best time!

Packet Pick-Up

Packet pick-up is from 12-5 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12 from 6-7:30 a.m.
