The University of Michigan Athletics Department is dedicated to the goal of being "Leaders & Best" in athletics, academics and citizenship. Though our tradition of success reflects many generations of extraordinary student-athletes, it receives no support from state tax dollars or University funds. With this self-sustaining status, private donations are critical for the continued success of our 25 varsity sports and the academic achievement of more than 700 student-athletes. The University of Michigan Athletics Department Development office is dedicated to building private support for U-M student-athletes to sustain and enhance Michigan's tradition of excellence.
