As of Nov. 14, 2012, getting to Michigan Stadium and Crisler Center from the east became much easier.

East Stadium Boulevard reopened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 14. Drivers can anticipate single-lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. through the end of the month. At least one lane of traffic in each direction will always be open.

East Stadium Boulevard, between Kipke Drive and Industrial Highway, had been closed since November 2011 while bridges over South State Street and the Ann Arbor Railroad were removed and replaced.

The project features safety improvements including improved sight distances, on-street bike lanes, sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, improved street lighting, and greater vertical and horizontal clearances on both the South State Street and railroad bridges.

Work also included construction of a sidewalk on the west side of South State Street and improved pedestrian access to East Stadium Boulevard via new staircases at the South State Street bridge.

Throughout the month, work will continue on landscaping, restoration and various other items.
