ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan Athletics had three team physicians, the department's neurologist and four consultants receive recognition on the 2014 Best Doctors in America list for the state of Michigan.
Team physicians and orthopedic surgeons Dr. James Carpenter, Dr. Bruce Miller and Dr. Ed Wojtys were named to the prestigious list along with neurologist Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher. In addition, four consultants that work with the athletic department on a case-by-case basis received selection: James Holmes (orthopedics - foot and ankle), Anthony Chiodo (physical medicine and rehabilitation), Jennifer Kim (ENT/plastic surgery) and Jon Jacobson (radiology).
Dr. Kutcher will be representing the U.S. delegation at the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi as the first-ever neurologist for the U.S. Olympic Team.
This new national list of Best Doctors in America includes 493 U-M physicians -- and places them among the top five percent of doctors in their specialties. The U-M Health System has more physicians recognized than any other health system in Michigan.
The list is compiled every year by Boston-based Best Doctors Inc., and it is based on an in-depth survey. The list contains more than 53,000 U.S. physicians in 40 specialties and more than 400 subspecialties of medicine.
