ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- IMG College's Michigan Sports Marketing has announced that University of Michigan tennis coaches Ronni Bernstein and Bruce Berque will be the featured guests on the "Michigan Athletics Coaches' Show" with Ira Weintraub on Monday (May 7) from 7-8 p.m. from Pizza House in Ann Arbor. The show will be carried on WTKA 1050 AM (Ann Arbor) and WXYT 1270 AM (Detroit).
Bernstein guided Michigan to its third consecutive Big Ten Conference title, posting a 10-1 league record, and was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the third time in her career. The Wolverines will host an NCAA Regional next Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, squaring off against Illinois-Chicago in the first round at the Varsity Tennis Center. Bernstein will be joined by freshman Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels HS), the 2012 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, who carries an impressive 31-8 record, including a 20-4 dual mark from the No. 1 position, and the nation's No. 12 singles ranking.
Berque's Wolverine men's squad, featuring no seniors and only one junior, finished second in the Big Ten standings with a 9-2 conference record -- the program's best finish in five seasons. U-M will open NCAA Tournament play against Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, May 12, in Oxford, Miss. Joining Berque will be junior Evan King (Chicago, Ill./Kaplan Prep), who was recently named the Big Ten Athlete of the Year after posting a 32-6 singles record in regular-season play. King is ranked No. 7 nationally and carries a 15-match singles win streak.
Fans are invited to watch the live broadcast at Pizza House, which is located at 618 Church Street, and the broadcast will take place upstairs on the second floor. For restaurant information or table reservations, please call (734) 995-5095.
