Michigan has a rich and storied intercollegiate athletics history. The Wolverines participate in three different conferences: the Big Ten Conference, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and the Collegiate Water Polo Association. U-M has won a combined 347 all-time men's and women's titles -- the most by one school in Big Ten competition.

Since joining the CCHA in 1981-82, ice hockey has enjoyed a strong tradition of success in the conference. The Wolverines have won 10 regular-season titles and eight CCHA tournament titles. The 10 regular-season titles lead the conference.

With 2009 marking the ninth year as a varsity sport at Michigan, the women's water polo team carried on its tradition of excellence, capturing its eighth straight CWPA divisional title and fourth conference crown.
