ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department has established an Office of Alumni Engagement for student-athlete alumni to stay connected with the athletic department and their respective team(s). This newly created department will reside in the development department of Michigan Athletics.
"Student-athlete alumni helped build the great tradition of Michigan Athletics and paved the way for all of our future student-athletes," said Chrissi Rawak, senior associate athletic director for development. "Whether the sweat from practices early in the morning or late nights studying, the sacrifices they made while here at Michigan are still remembered and prevalent however many years later. We are now embarking on a new journey, to better connect with those student-athlete alumni and in turn provide them with an avenue to which they can build their relationship with the Michigan Family by contributing in the ways they find most meaningful through volunteering their time, donating gifts or sharing their talents."
The athletic department is collaborating with the Letterwinners M Club and the varsity athletic teams to establish this program as the home for all Michigan student-athlete alumni. The program will celebrate Michigan Athletics' history, showcase the holistic student-athlete, and foster a community united by time spent competing for the block M. This department will also provide multiple opportunities for student-athlete alumni to continue to interact with and strengthen their connection to Michigan Athletics.
