ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Over the next week, several University of Michigan athletic teams will be hosting pink games to help raise awareness and to educate fans about breast cancer. Proceeds from auctions and apparel sales will benefit the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation supporting breast cancer awareness and education.

"Pink Week" kicks off on Friday (Oct. 12) at Phyllis Ocker Field where the Michigan field hockey team will "Team Up for One Goal" with the Michigan State Spartans at 3 p.m. live on the Big Ten Network. Commemorative pink T-shirts, water bottles, sweatbands and other merchandise will be on sale at the promotions table during the game.

On Saturday (Oct. 13), the Michigan football team will don pink gloves and accessories when it takes the field at Michigan Stadium against Illinois at 3:30 p.m. Game-worn pink gear will be auctioned off online at the MGoBlue.com auction site following the game.

The Michigan women's soccer team will host its first-ever pink game when it takes the field at U-M Soccer Stadium against Purdue on Sunday (Oct. 14) at 2 p.m. The Wolverines will warm up in special pink T-shirts that will be open for bidding in a silent auction directly following the game. Other pink merchandise will also be on sale at the promotions table during the game.

On Wednesday (Oct. 17) at 7 p.m., the Michigan volleyball team will face Michigan State for its annual pink match. The Wolverines will be wearing pink jerseys, which will be open for bidding in a silent auction throughout the game. Pink merchandise will also be on sale at the M Den match store, located in the Cliff Keen Arena lobby.

Volleyball head coach Mark Rosen and his staff will also hold a "Scoop for the Cure" benefit night at the Ann Arbor Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shop on State Street on Monday (Oct. 15) from 6-8 p.m. A portion of the sales made during that time will also be donated to the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
