Matt Segura joined the University of Michigan Olympic Sport Strength and Conditioning Staff as a graduate assistant in June 2012. He is responsible for the program design and implementation for the men's and women's cross country, throwing, and pole vault student-athletes.
Prior to joining the Michigan staff, Matt completed an internship with the University of Michigan during the 2012 winter semester. Matt arrived at Michigan after serving as the head strength and conditioning coach for Butte Junior College, working with the football and softball teams from 2009 until 2011. Prior to that, Matt completed an internship at Arizona State University during the summer of 2009, working with the football and basketball teams.
His first strength and conditioning experience came as an intern/assistant at Butte Junior College, working with the football team in 2008.
He received his B.S. in exercise physiology from California State University Chico and plans on completing his master's degree at Eastern Michigan University. He is currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well as a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.
