ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's lacrosse first-year head coach Kevin Conry announced Tuesday (Nov. 21) the program's 2018 schedule, which is chock full of top opponents and the hosting of the Big Ten Tournament at the new U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
In a slate that features 14 games, U-M will take on nine NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago, including NCAA Final Four participants Ohio State (April 14) and reigning NCAA champion Maryland (March 31).
Year seven of varsity competition will open with a matchup against Cleveland State on Feb. 10, the first-ever varsity contest at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. Other marquee non-conference matchups include trips to Yale (Feb. 17) and Notre Dame (March 21).
Big Ten play commences on March 31 in a contest versus the Maryland Terrapins, followed by consecutive trips to Rutgers (April 7) and Ohio State (April 14). Following a home game against Johns Hopkins on April 21, the Wolverines will close out the regular season at Penn State on April 28.
U-M will also show off the brand new complex when it hosts the 2018 Big Ten Tournament. The top four teams in the six-team league will earn berths to the Big Ten Tournament, with a pair of semifinal games on May 3 and the final on May 5. The winner of the tournament will secure an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Michigan's new lacrosse facility, which is part of the South Competition and Performance Project, features a 2,000 seat stadium -- one of a handful of lacrosse-only stadiums in the country.
The Wolverines have been practicing on their new field since early September, while construction of the locker room, coaches offices, film room and team lounge was recently completed. In addition, the sparkling Sports Performance Center adjacent to the lacrosse facilities will house a 20,000-square-foot weight room, as well as athletic medicine and nutrition areas, creating an all-encompassing home for the program on South Campus.
Tickets for the inaugural season at the new facility are now on sale, with individual tickets available for $6, while groups of 10 or more can be secured for $3 each. For more information, visit the University of Michigan ticket office.
