Big Ten Preseason Honors List (Aug. 14)
Junior Reilly Martin, fifth-year senior co-captain Ani Sarkisian and senior/junior Taylor Timko represent Michigan on the Big Ten Preseason Honors List. Martin was named to the list for the second consecutive season. Martin led Michigan in points a year ago with 24, recording seven goals and 10 assists. Her 10 assists tied for first in the Big Ten. Following the season, she was named Michigan's co-Offensive MVP and a member of the All-Big Ten second team. The movement science major also excels in the classroom and was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Five Team, which combines athletic and academic accomplishments.
Sarkisian, who has started all 61 games in her career to date, was named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List for the second straight season. Sarkisian finished the 2016 season with six goals and five assists en route to being named to the All-Big Ten second team. She has earned Big Ten postseason honors in each season in Maize and Blue, being selected to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2014 and All-Big Ten first team in 2015.
After being Michigan's leading offensive producer in 2015, with seven goals and three assists, Timko missed the entire 2016 season with a knee injury. Despite playing primarily on the back line, Timko is healthy and primed to be one of Michigan's top scorers in 2017. Timko combined to score five goals in Michigan's two exhibition matches in 2017, including four against Western Michigan. A biology major, she has previously earned Academic All-District and Academic All-Big Ten accolades.
