LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of Michigan softball team struggled to get off the field amid a six-run fifth inning as Nebraska earned an 8-0, five-inning decision to even the weekend series on Saturday afternoon (April 1) at Bowlin Stadium.

All six Husker runs came with two outs in the fifth inning and included a pair of two-run homers and two Michigan pitching changes. Nebraska ended the game with a bases-loaded single to the left-center field gap to secure the run-rule margin.

Nebraska also plated a pair of runs in the second inning. In all, the Huskers posted nine hits and earned five free bases on two walks and three hit batters. Junior RHP Jessica LeBeau (6-8) took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks through 4.2 innings. She struck out two.

The outcome was a reversal of yesterday's series opener, which U-M won 10-1 in five innings and was highlighted by a six-run third inning.

Sophomore outfielder Ellie Sieler post the Wolverines' lone hit on a fifth-inning single, while Michigan did earn three walks, but only once advanced a runner past first base.

Michigan (16-14, 2-3 Big Ten) will wrap its weekend series at Nebraska with the rubber match at noon CT tomorrow (Sunday, April 2) at Bowlin Stadium. The game will be streamed live on B1G+.
