2011-12 National Anthem Tryouts

SingersThe University of Michigan Athletics department will hold auditions for National Anthem singers for the upcoming sports season on Monday, Sept. 12 (note date change), from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Auditions will be held in Cliff Keen Arena. Sports may include men's & women's soccer, men's & women's tennis, women's basketball, men's & women's gymnastics, volleyball, baseball, and softball. Please note that National Anthem singers will be requested as needed, and that by auditioning, singers are not guaranteed an opportunity to sing at an event.

Each singer will have five minutes to perform a traditional version of the anthem. Please RSVP to Whitney Tarver by phone (734) 763-0824 or email wtarver@umich.edu no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, to reserve your spot. You must reserve a time slot to audition.

Eligibility:
Anyone is eligible to audition for the opportunity to become a National Anthem Singer for Michigan Athletics. You must be present for the audition on time or you will lose your audition time.

Material:
Each individual must be prepared to sing an a cappella (without music) version of the Star Spangled Banner to a panel of at least three (3) judges on Monday, Sept. 12, at Cliff Keen Arena. The audition will not be longer than five (5) minutes in length.

Competition:
Each individual must register in advance to schedule an audition time on Monday, Sept. 12. Audition times will be booked on a first-come, first serve basis until the slots are filled. There will only be one scheduled day for auditions.

Disqualifications:
The Michigan Athletics Department reserves the right to disqualify and/or exclude any individual from any of the auditions for any reason, including, without limitation, violation of any portion of these rules, or tampering with the judging process or the audition process.
