Throughout the school year, MGoBlue.com will introduce the 26 members of the Wolverines' 2013-14 dance team. Up this week is Penelope Koulos, a sophomore from Long Beach, Calif.

  • Competition History: Orange County Dance Center (12 years), competed at Youth American Grand Prix, Showstoppers, Dance Masters of America, Star Systems, Kids Artistic Revue; Ballet Repertory Theatre (six years); Michigan Dance Team
  • Favorite Dance Memory: Performing the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker in front of 800 people at the Barclay Theatre.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Cheering in the stands at the Michigan-MSU football game in 2012 when we beat them.

  • Favorite Dance Memory: My favorite memories have been participating in Youth Day at the Big House. Another great memory was competing at states my senior year of high school.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: My favorite Michigan memory was cheering on the football team at the Michigan State game during my freshman year.

  • Favorite Dance Memory: Being surprised by the Athletic Department with a new uniform in the summer of 2012!
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Walking into Michigan Stadium through the tunnel for the first time and seeing more than 113,000 Michigan fans filling up the stadium!

  • Favorite Dance Memory: Saturday mornings started off with ballet and dancing from 9 to 5 - I made it through those long, hard practices because I knew I was getting a home-cooked meal from my mom afterwards!
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Every single game -- home and away -- that I get to be with my teammates and best friends, dancing all day and getting hyped for the game! Specifically, I love the rush that comes over me when I get sing "Hail to the Victors" after a big win - it's incomparable and truly incredible.

  • Favorite Dance Memory: My favorite dance memory is winning nationals during my sophomore year of high school.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: My favorite Michigan memory was watching the Michigan football team beat Michigan State at home in the last few seconds to get the program's 900th win!

  • Competition History: Bev's Dance Studio in New Baltimore (1998-2008), Main Stage Center for the Arts senior competition team (2008-2012), Michigan Dance Team
  • Favorite Dance Memory: My favorite dance memory was during my freshman year at Michigan when our hip hop team made it into the finals at UDA Nationals. We got to perform at The Milkhouse. We all danced with so much passion and the feeling I had was indescribable.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: My favorite Michigan memory was taking a road trip down to Atlanta for the Final Four and National Championship games in the 2013 men's basketball tournament. Sitting in the student section with all of my friends and seeing Michigan beat Syracuse and play Louisville was unbelievable! The energy in the arena was crazy and made me love my school even more.

  • Competition History: Dancer's Edge Studio in Macomb, Mich., performing company and all-star teams (2006-2012), Chippewa Valley varsity dance team (2009-2011), Michigan Dance Team
  • Favorite Dance Memory: Winning the gold medal at the USASF Dance Worlds in the pom division (2011) with the Dancer's Edge Studio Senior Elite all-star team. It was an experience of a lifetime and it taught me that hard work pays off! It is still one of my favorite memories of my dance career before college.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: My favorite Michigan memory would have to be walking through the tunnel of the Big House and on to the field for my first football game. The energy in the tunnel is crazy and stepping on to that field gives you the biggest rush of adrenaline in the world. I am so grateful to be a Michigan Wolverine and represent the best university in the world by doing what I love.
