ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan dance team will hold its 11th annual dance competition this Sunday (March 9) at the Crisler Center with more than 160 teams and studios from area colleges, high schools and communities set to perform. The 26 members of the dance team will serve as judges for six different categories, including jazz, pom, kick, lyrical, modern/contemporary and hip hop.
The competition begins at 9 a.m. and costs $10 for spectators. Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the competition after 5 p.m.
"This is truly a dynamic event that gives area studios and teams the opportunity to perform in an electric atmosphere at a truly incomparable venue in Crisler Center," said head coach Valerie Stead Potsos. "The competition allows us to connect with area dancers and provide valuable feedback as they progress with their careers. We are looking forward to an exciting day with some truly talented dancers."
In January, the Michigan dance team was awarded a pair of top-10 placements at the Universal Dance Association College Dance Team Nationals in Division 1A hip hop and jazz.
