Getting to Know the 2013-14 Michigan Dance Team: Seniors

Throughout the school year, will introduce the 26 members of the Wolverines' 2013-14 dance team. Up this week is MJ Miele, a senior from Sterling Heights, Mich.

Hometown: Sterling Heights, Mich.  •  High School: Henry Ford II

  • Enrolled College: Kinesiology
  • Major: Movement Science
  • Competition History: Suzette's Masters of Dance (2002-10), Henry Ford II Dance Team (2006-10)
  • Favorite Dance Memory: Winning the Victory Cup with my team at nationals in 2006 and running out of the tunnel into the Big house my freshman year with MDT at my first football game. But anything with my MDT family is a favorite memory!
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Traveling to Atlanta with a huge group of friends and watching Michigan play in the Final Four and the national championship game. It was such a fun experience and something I will never forget.

  • Favorite Dance Memory: Every time I dance in the Big House in front of the largest football crowd in America!
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Going to the Final Four in Atlanta with my friends.

  • Competition History: Walled Lake Central Poms 2006-2010; competitive studio dance for 15 years
  • Favorite Dance Memory: Traveling to Tampa for the Outback Bowl last season. And also when we danced with the Dallas Cowboys at the Alabama game.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: When Michigan beat Notre Dame in the first night game under the lights. Then all the fans stayed in the stands after the game singing "Don't Stop Believing."

  • Competition History: The Dance Place Ltd., Corpse De Danse and Company
  • Favorite Dance Memory: Having the opportunity to compete regionally with my sister in a duet during her senior year of high school.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Having the opportunity to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain, for seven weeks during the summer months with other Michigan students and faculty.

  • Favorite Dance Memory: Dancing in Daytona Beach, Fla., with my friends and winning Star Systems Nationals with a dance dedicated to those with breast cancer and survivors.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Performing every Saturday with my best friends.

  • Competition History: For Dancers Only (2004-10); Art of Dance (1994-2004)
  • Favorite Dance Memory: Placing fourth and being the only USA female in the finals to represent our country at the 2008 World Tap Championships in Riesa, Germany.
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Dancing under the lights in the first night game when Michigan beat Notre Dame in the last eight seconds in 2011.

  • Favorite Dance Memory: Winning the UDA national championship in both the pom and jazz categories my senior year on Rosary Dance Team
  • Favorite Michigan Memory: Dancing in the unforgettable "Under the Lights game" against Notre Dame my sophomore year on the MDT!
