Michigan (2-9) finished second at 2-2 in the Bearkat Baseball Invitational with a 2-0 mark against Massachusetts (0-3) and 0-2 clip against tournament champ Sam Houston State.
The Wolverines were shut out for the first time since four pitchers from Coastal Carolina blanked Michigan 3-0 on March 14, 2010.
Michigan is 2-9 for the first time since 2002.
Freshman RF Michael O'Neill was 1-for-3 with a walk, extending his team-leading hitting streak to 11 games with a sixth-inning single. O'Neill, who is hitting .386 (17-for-44), has at least one hit in every game in his U-M career.
Sophomore CF Patrick Biondi was 2-for-4 and extended his personal season-best hitting streak to six games with his third-inning bunt single. Biondi has five multi-hit games this season and 26 for his U-M career.
Senior/junior 1B Garrett Stephens, who is hitting .302 (13-for-43), was 1-for-4 with a sixth-inning single. Stephens, who had 13 putouts Sunday, has hits in nine of U-M's 11 games this season.
Senior co-captain 2B Anthony Toth was 1-for-4. His second-inning single extended his hitting streak to four games, his second four-game streak this season. Toth has hits in 12 of his last 14 games as a Wolverine.
Junior/sophomore LF Kevin Krantz was 1-for-3 with a walk. Krantz, who is hitting .257 (9-for-35), leads the team with four extra-base hits, with seven of his 10 starts coming in the ninth position in the lineup.
Freshman RHP Alex Lakatos made his first start on the mound in a Michigan uniform and allowed just one hit and one run in 3.2 innings of work.
