Postgame Notes: U-M 17, Lipscomb 14; #10 Coastal Carolina 13, U-M 4

• Michigan used a 10-run first inning to spark a quick start against Lipscomb in the first-ever meet for U-M with the Bisons. It marked the most runs for U-M since a nine-run seventh-inning last season at Northwestern (5-14-09) in a 16-6 win.

• The last time U-M scored 10 or more runs in an inning was a 13-run fifth-inning rally against Kent State (3-12-2000) in a 16-12 win in a neutral-site contest played in Charleston, S.C.

• The last time U-M scored 10 or more runs in the first inning was an 11-run outburst at Detroit-Mercy (4-11-96) in a 22-12 Wolverine win.

• Freshman SS Derek Dennis hit the first two home runs of his U-M career with solo shots in each game. Dennis has a career-best three-game hitting streak and has four multi-hit games.

• Senior C Chris Berset extended his team-leading hitting streak to nine games, matching his career-best streak set in 2007. Berset had five hits in the two games on Saturday, going 3-for-5 with a double against Lipscomb and 2-for-4 with a pair of singles against Coastal Carolina.

Berset's first-inning run-scoring single proved to be the game-winner against Lipscomb, his first 'gamer' of the year and the fifth of his U-M career.

• Freshman CF Patrick Biondi reached base eight times Saturday with two hits against both Lipscomb and Coastal Carolina.

• Senior 1B Mike Dufek was 3-for-5 with four runs batted in in the win over Lipscomb and added a run-scoring single against Coastal Carolina to extend his hitting streak to four games. He has six multi-hit games this season and 33 in his U-M career. Dufek has had three hits or more 11 times as a Wolverine.

• Dufek collected his 100th career RBI with a run-scoring single in the third inning against Lipscomb.

• Sophomore LF Garrett Stephens was 3-for-5 with a double against Lipscomb for his first career multi-hit game.

• Junior RHP Kolby Wood collected a run-scoring single to drive in the final run of the opener in his first career at-bat.

• Sophomore OF/C Coley Crank was 2-for-4 against Lipscomb and added a single in the Coastal Carolina game to give him hits in 11 of U-M's 14 games this season.
