Michigan is 4-12 for the first time since 2002.
Freshman RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .385 (25-for-65), was 4-for-6 and he scored the winning run after his 12th-inning triple. O'Neill extended his team-leading hitting streak to 16 games with his third-inning single. O'Neill has at least one hit in every game in his U-M career.
O'Neill has six-multi-hit games this season, with four two-hit games, one three-hit contest and one four-hit game.
Junior 3B John Lorenz, who is hitting .281 (18-for-64) for the season, was 3-for-6 and picked up his first game-winning run batted in of the season. Lorenz has four career `gamers.' He has hits in 13 of the 15 games he has had an at-bat in and he has hits in 27 of his last 29 games over the past two seasons. Lorenz has eight career three-hit games and 32 career multi-hit games as a Wolverine.
Sophomore SS Derek Dennis was 3-for-5 with an intentional walk. Dennis has three of his five career three-hit games this season. Dennis, who is hitting .288 (17-for-59), has five multi-hit games in 2011 and 18 career multi-hit games.
Sophomore CF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .309 (21-for-68), was 2-for-6 and scored twice. Biondi leads the team with eight multi-hit games this season and he has 29 for his U-M career.
Senior co-captain 2B Anthony Toth, who is hitting .283 (17-for-60), was 1-for-4 with a pair of walks in six plate appearances. Toth has hits in 16 of his last 19 games as a Wolverine.
Freshman RHP Jake Engels (1-0, 1.12 earned-run average, one save) pitched 4.1 shutout innings, allowing three hits to record his first career win as a Wolverine. Engels entered the game with the bases loaded and two outs with the score tied at 3-3 and he retired the lone batter he faced in that frame and pitched through the 12th inning.
