The 8-6 loss by Michigan on Friday moved the home-opening record of Wolverine head coach Rich Maloney to 8-2 in his 10 openers starting in 2003.
Sophomore RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .376 (32-for-85), was 3-for-5 with three singles, two RBI and a stolen base.
O'Neill leads the team with 12 multi-hit games this season and he has 28 career multi-hit games and 41 career stolen bases.
Freshman LF Will Drake, who is hitting .377 (26-for-69), was 2-for-6 with his team-leading fourth triple of the season. Drake has seven multi-hit games this season.
Junior co-captain CF/2B Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .247 (19-for-77), was 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
Biondi, who leads the Wolverines with 13 stolen bases, collected his 69th career steal. Biondi ranks third on U-M's career stolen base list as he chases former Wolverine LF Jim Durham (74 steals, 1986-89) in second place. The record is 90 stolen bases set by CF Eric Rose (2004-07).
Sophomore RHP/DH Alex Lakatos, who is hitting .333 (1-for-3), made his first start of the season as a hitter and he collected a third-inning double for the first U-M hit in Fisher Stadium in the 2012 season.
Lakatos (0-2, 1.46 ERA, one save) pitched three innings, allowing one run on six hits with three strikeouts.
