Senior/junior LHP Bobby Brosnahan (3-2, 2.08 ERA) allowed one hit in six scoreless innings while collecting the win Sunday vs. IPFW. Brosnahan collected four strikeouts in his ninth career win as a Wolverine.
Junior co-captain CF/2B Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .294 (25-for-85), was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base as he extended his hitting streak to six games. It was Biondi's first four-hit game as a Wolverine.
Biondi, who has seven multi-hit games this season and 46 for his U-M career, has scored 21 times this season and has scored 126 runs in 134 games in his Wolverine career.
Biondi, who leads the Wolverines with 15 stolen bases, collected his 71st career steal Sunday vs. IPFW. Biondi ranks third on U-M's career stolen base list as he chases former Wolverine LF Jim Durham (74 steals, 1986-89) in second place. The record is 90 stolen bases set by CF Eric Rose (2004-07).
Biondi led off the U-M first inning with a double and scored on a Michael O'Neill sacrifice fly. Biondi has scored in the first inning as Michigan's leadoff batter 38 times in his Wolverine career (21 times in 2010, 12 times in 2011 and five times so far in 2012).
Sophomore RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .370 (34-for-92), was 1-for-3 with a run-scoring single and sac fly and was hit by a pitch. O'Neill's first-inning sac fly proved to be his second game-winning RBI of the season and the fifth "gamer" of his U-M career. O'Neill has hits in 62 of his 77 games as a Wolverine.
Senior catcher/DH Coley Crank, who is hitting .195 (15-for-77), was 1-for-3 with a homer, a HBP and two RBI. Crank has 20 RBI this season and 128 in his U-M career.
With 28 homers Crank has pulled into a tie for 10th-place tie with Jake Fox (28 homers, 2001-03) on U-M's career home run list. Crank is one homer shy of a ninth-place tie with Brock Koman (29, 2000-03) and two homers shy of a tie for sixth place with Bryan Besco (30, 1995-99), Mike Cervenak (30, 1996-99) and Chris Sabo (30, 1981-83).
Senior co-captain 3B John Lorenz, who is hitting .247 (22-for-89), was 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and two RBI Sunday vs. IPFW for his sixth multi-hit game of the season. Lorenz has a personal season-best five-game hitting streak.
Lorenz, who has 43 career multi-hit games, has five doubles this season and 38 in 182 games in his U-M career. He has nine home runs and 79 RBI in his career.
Lorenz and Coley Crank hit back-to-back homers in the four-run fifth-inning rally. Michigan has hit back-to-back homers twice this season, with Brett Winger and Crank hitting the homers in the eight-run fifth inning in a 17-8 win vs. Chicago State on March 3.
Sophomore 1B Brett Winger, who is hitting .296 (24-for-81), was 2-for-4 with a double and a run-scoring single Sunday for his sixth multi-hit game of the season. He has 10 career multi-hit games.
Freshman OF/DH Zach Zott, who is hitting .182 (4-for-22), was 2-for-5 with a sacrifice bunt. It was Zott's first multi-hit game in his fourth start as a Wolverine.
