• Sophomore OF/DH Zach Zott, who is hitting .289 (13-for-45), was 2-for-3 with a single and a double. Zott's fourth-inning double extended his career-best hitting streak to five games.

• Zott has three multi-hit games in 2013 and eight in 55 games in his Wolverine career.

• Freshman 2B/RHP Jacob Cronenworth, who is hitting .353 (30-for-85), was 1-for-4 with a single for his first Big Ten hit. The first-inning single extended Cronenworth's season/career-best hitting streak to eight games.

• Freshman 1B Jack Sexton, who is hitting .186 (11-for-59), was 1-for-3 with a run scored, collecting his first career Big Ten hit. The third-inning single extended Sexton's season-best hitting streak to three games.

• Senior/junior LHP Logan McAnallen(1-2, 3.34 ERA) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three runs, but just one earned, as he took the loss in the Big Ten opener. McAnallen matched his season best with six strikeouts, giving him 23 Ks in 29.2 innings over 10 appearances.

• Senior RHP Ben Ballantine (1-1, 2.91 ERA) pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit out of the bullpen Friday vs. Minnesota. Ballantine fanned three batters to push his season total to 18 in 21.2 innings in six appearances.
