Freshman LF Will Drake, who is hitting .330 (38-for-115), was 1-for-4 with a run-scoring single that snapped a 1-1 tie in the first inning. The single proved to be Drake's third game-winning RBI of the season and he has hits in eight of his nine games.
Sophomore catcher Cole Martin, who is hitting .250 (15-for-60), was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Martin has hits in nine of his last 11 games.
Junior co-captain CF/2B Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .327 (35-for-107), was 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored.
Biondi, who leads the Wolverines with 18 stolen bases, collected his 74th career steal to tie former Wolverine LF Jim Durham (74 steals, 1986-89) for second place on U-M's career stolen base list. The record is 90 stolen bases set by CF Eric Rose (2004-07).
Biondi led off the U-M first inning with a walk, advanced to third base on a walk and a wild pitch, and he scored on a Michael O'Neill infield grounder. Biondi has scored in the first inning as Michigan's leadoff batter 41 times in his Wolverine career (21 times in 2010, 12 times in 2011 and eight times so far in 2012).
Crank, with 29 homers, has pulled into a tie for ninth place on Michigan's all-time home run list with Brock Koman (29 homers, 2000-03) and is one homer shy of a tie for sixth place with Bryan Besco (30 homers, 1995-99), Mike Cervenak (30, 1996-99) and Chris Sabo (30, 1981-83).
Freshman RHP James Bourque (2-0, 4.70 ERA, two saves) pitched three innings, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts in his third start of the season. Bourque, the first of five Wolverine pitchers vs. CMU, collected the win. Bourque has 12 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.
