ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team scored once in the first before allowing a run in the sixth and eighth to fall, 2-1, to Bowling Green on Tuesday afternoon (April 11) at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.

Sophomore Alex Lakatos (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) retired the first Falcon in the eighth, but Jeremy Shay doubled to left-center and BGSU put runners on the corners with one out on a fielding error. Jesse Rait brought in the winning run on a squeeze bunt that scored pinch runner Alex Davison.

Michigan scored first in the first with two outs. Freshman Will Drake (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) doubled down the line in left field. He scored on a single from senior Coley Crank (Pinole, Calif./Pinole Valley). Bowling Green tied the game in the top of the sixth with another unearned run as Patrick Lancaster's single scored Drew Kuns, who reached on an error to begin the inning.

Freshman James Bourque (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) had a solid start. He struck out six and allowed five hits and an unearned run in 5.1 innings pitched. Lakatos was tagged with the loss as he struck out a pair and allowed one hit and an unearned run in 2.2 innings. Trevor Blaylock earned the win for the Falcons, striking out three and allowing three hits and a run in seven innings. Jason Link picked up his first save, striking out a pair in two innings of relief.

Crank, Drake and sophomore Brett Winger (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) had the three hits for the Maize and Blue. Andrew Kubuski had a pair of hits to lead Bowling Green.

Michigan will wrap up the homestand this Wednesday (April 11) against Toledo. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium. [ Tickets ]
