Sophomore CF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .304 (38-for-125), was 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored . He is hitting .529 (9-for-17) with six stolen bases during his current four-game hitting streak.
Biondi led off the first inning with a single and he scored on a single by Michael O'Neill. Biondi has scored in the first inning as the leadoff batter six times this season, four times in Big Ten play and 27 times in his U-M career.
Biondi's two-hit game was his team-leading 12th multi-hit game of the season and he has 33 career multi-hit games.
Biondi, who leads the team with 17 stolen bases, moved into sixth place alone on U-M's career stolen base list, snapping his tie with Bill St. Peter (45 stolen bases, 1986-88). With his 46 career stolen bases, Biondi is six behind Rodney Goble (52, 1992-95) for fifth place on U-M's career steals list.
Senior/junior 1B Garrett Stephens, who is hitting .262 (27-for-103), was 2-for-3 and scored three times as he extended his career-best hitting streak to six games. Stephens snapped a 2-2 tie with his first-inning run-scoring single that proved to be his second game-winning run batted in in the last two games. He has two career 'gamers.'
Freshman RHP/DH Alex Lakatos, who is hitting .322 (19-for-59), was 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI. Lakatos has hits in seven of his last eight games as he collected his fifth multi-hit game as a Wolverine.
Junior catcher/DH Coley Crank, who is hitting .255 (27-for-106), was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Crank has hits in 10 of his last 11 games.
Crank, who is the active career leader in home runs for Michigan with 18, has 13 RBI this season and 88 for his U-M career. Crank has 13 extra-base hits (11 doubles and two homers) among his 27 hits this year.
Freshman RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .311 (37-for-119), was 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base. O'Neill, who has eight multi-hit games, has hits in 26 of his 30 games this season. O'Neill leads the team with 15 RBI and he is second with 16 stolen bases.
Junior/sophomore 2B/OF Kevin Krantz, who is hitting .227 (20-for-88), was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Krantz is second on the team with seven doubles and he is tied for second on the team with 14 RBI with 3B John Lorenz. Krantz has five multi-hit games this season and six career multi-hit games as a Wolverine.
Junior/sophomore LF/RHP Tyler Mills was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. The two-run double in the first inning was the first hit of the season for Mills.
Freshman 2B Mac Simotes collected his first career hit as a Wolverine with a run-scoring single in the seventh inning.
