• Senior catcher/1B/DH Coley Crank, who is hitting .219 (28-for-128), was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Crank has five multi-hit games this season and 43 for his U-M career in 182 games.

• Sophomore catcher Cole Martin, who is hitting .216 (16-for-74), was 1-for-4 with a seventh-inning run-scoring triple to tie the game 2-2. The triple was Martin's first career extra-base hit as a Wolverine.

• Junior RHP Ben Ballantine (1-0, 3.04 ERA) allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits with two strikeouts as he pitched six innings in a no-decision start. Ballantine left the game as the pitcher of record with a 3-2 lead.

• Ballantine leads the U-M pitching staff in starts (10), innings pitched (50.1) and strikeouts (36). His 3.04 ERA is tops among U-M starting pitchers.

• Sophomore 1B Brett Winger, who is hitting .286 (36-for-126), was 2-for-4 with a run-scoring single and a double. Winger reached base seven times (five hits and two walks) in 13 plate appearances in the three-game series at PSU.

• Winger's two-hit game was his ninth multi-hit game of the season and his 13th career multi-hit game.

• Freshman OF/DH Zach Zott, who is hitting .208 (11-for-53), was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Zott's two-out RBI bunt single gave Michigan a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning. Zott has three multi-hit games this season.

• Junior co-captain CF/2B Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .309 (43-for-139), was 1-for-5 with a leadoff single in the first inning.
