Senior captain CF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .327 (34-for-104), posted a career single-game best six stolen bases. He now also has 11 multi-hit games in 2013 and 68 in his U-M career.
Biondi's six stolen bases broke a Big Ten record for stolen bases in a game. The old record was five set by Iowa's Lance Platz against Purdue on April 15, 1979.
With six stolen bases, Biondi has 14 for the season; he pushed his all-time U-M stolen base record total to 102 in 200 career games.
Biondi scored two runs, giving him 25 runs scored in 2013 to push his career total to 174 runs to snap his tie for fourth place on U-M's career runs scored list and leaving him one shy of Phil Price (175 runs, 1987-90) for third with Ken Hayward (176 runs, 1982-85) in second place. The record is 190 runs scored by Casey Close (1983-86).
Biondi led off the U-M first inning with a walk and stole second and third and scored on a ground out. Biondi has scored in the first inning as Michigan's leadoff batter 49 times in his Wolverine career (21 times in 2010, 12 times in 2011, 10 times in 2012 and six times so far in 2013).
Junior OF Michael O'Neill has hits in 31 of the 39 games this season and in 35 of his last 43 games in the past two seasons.
With O'Neill's two stolen bases, he has a team-leading total of 17 stolen bases for the season, moving his career total to 66 and into fourth on U-M's career stolen base lead. He tied and moved ahead of Steve Finken (65 steals, 1986-88); Jim Durham (74 steals, 1986-89) is third on the list.
Junior C Cole Martin, who has three consecutive two-hit games, has 10 multi-hit games in 2013, and he has 15 career multi-hit games as a Wolverine.
