With Friday's loss at OSU, Michigan dropped from a five-way tie for fourth place into a four-way tie for sixth place in the Big Ten standings with Illinois, Indiana and Northwestern at 6-7.
Sophomore CF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .301 (47-for-156) to share the team lead with Michael O'Neill, was 1-for-4. Biondi had a first-inning single to extend his current personal season-best hitting streak to 12 games. Biondi is hitting .375 (18-for-48) with 10 stolen bases and 11 runs scored during his streak.
Biondi, who scored Michigan's first run, has now scored in the first inning as U-M's leadoff batter 10 times this season, eight times in the 13 Big Ten games, and 31 times in his U-M career.
Freshman RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .301 (47-for-156) to share the team lead with Patrick Biondi, was 1-for-4 with a sixth-inning single that extended his current hitting streak to six games. O'Neill has hits in 33 of his 39 games this season.
Freshman DH/RHP Alex Lakatos, who is hitting .280 (26-for-93), was 2-for-4 for his seventh multi-hit game of the season.
Senior co-captain 2B/SS Anthony Toth, who is hitting .222 (32-for-144), was 1-for-2 with a single, a walk and a sac fly. Toth has hits in four consecutive games.
