Junior LF/catcher/DH Coley Crank, who is hitting .273 (41-for-150), was 1-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's win over Notre Dame and his eighth inning solo homer snapped a 1-1 tie and proved to be his second game-winning run batted in of the season. Crank is U-M's active career leader in 'gamers' with eight.
Crank has hits in 19 of his last 23 games and nearly half of his 41 hits have been for extra bases (20), including 13 doubles, one triple and six homers.
Crank leads the team with 24 RBI this season, pushing his career total to 99 as a Wolverine. Crank is the active career leader in home runs for Michigan with 22.
In five career games against Notre Dame, Crank is hitting .533 (8-for-15) with two doubles, two homers and five RBI as Michigan has won four of the five games.
Junior 3B John Lorenz, who is hitting .244 (39-for-160) for the season, was 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Lorenz has nine multi-hit games this season and 36 career multi-hit games as a Wolverine. He has nine career three-hit games. Lorenz has eight doubles for the year and 30 for his U-M career.
Freshman RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .290 (49-for-169) to lead the team, was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. O'Neill has hits in 35 of his 42 games this season.
Sophomore/freshman 2B/catcher John DiLaura, making his fifth start of the season and second at 2B, was 3-for-4 with his first career stolen base. DiLaura, who is hitting .261 (6-for-23), doubled his career hit total from three to six.
Junior/sophomore RHP Tyler Mills (2-4, 5.61) worked 2.2 innings out of the bullpen, including the final six straight batters of the game to earn his second win of the season. Mills had four strikeouts to grab a share of the team lead at 36 with RHP Ben Ballantine.
