Freshman LF Kevin White, who is hitting .227 (17-for-75), was 1-for-5 with a two-run single in Saturday's opener at Iowa, and he was 2-for-4 in the second game with a second-inning single that extended his career personal-best hitting streak to eight games. He has five multi-hit games as a Wolverine.
White's 10th-inning, two-run single in Saturday's opener at Iowa snapped a 2-2 tie and proved to be his first career game-winning RBI.
Junior co-captain CF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .315 (58-for-184), was 4-for-9 with three RBI and three stolen bases in the doubleheader. Biondi has a five -game hitting streak and hits in 10 of his last 11 games. He was 3-for-5 in the opener.
Biondi, who leads the team in hits (58), runs scored (40), stolen bases (31) and multi-hit games (17), has 56 career multi-hit games and 147 runs scored in 157 games in his career as a Wolverine. Biondi ranks fourth on U-M's single-season stolen bases list with 31.
Biondi, who leads the Wolverines with 31 stolen bases, collected career steals 85, 86 and 87 Saturday at Iowa. He ranks second on U-M's career steals list, just three shy of the U-M record of 90 held by CF Eric Rose (2004-07).
Sophomore RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .338 (44-for-130), was 4-for-10 in the doubleheader. He was 3-for-6 with two RBI in Saturday's opener.
O'Neill, who has hits in 68 of his 86 games as a Wolverine, has 14 multi-hit games this season and 30 in his career. He has five career three-hit games.
Senior catcher/1B/DH/LF Coley Crank, who is hitting .261 (42-for-161), was 3-for-8 in Saturday's doubleheader, going 2-for-5 in the opener and 1-for-3 with a walk in the second game. Crank has a three-game hitting streak.
Crank has 10 multi-hit games this season and 48 for his U-M career in 191 games.
Senior co-captain 3B John Lorenz, who is hitting .257 (46-for-179), was 1-for-4 in each game of Saturday's doubleheader as he extended his personal season-high hitting streak to nine games.
Freshman RHP Matt Ogden (2-3, 3.69 ERA, three saves) retired the four batters he faced, recording two strikeouts, as he collected his second win of the season in Saturday's opener at Iowa. Ogden leads the U-M pitching staff with 17 appearances, all out of the bullpen.
Sophomore RHP Alex Lakatos (0-5, 2.40 ERA, two saves) pitched six innings in his first start of the season, allowing two runs on four hits and four strikeouts, in a no-decision effort in Saturday's opener. Lakatos has 31 strikeouts in 41.1 innings in 16 appearances this season.
