• Michigan (30-18, 11-8 Big Ten) kept a share of first place in conference action with the 4-3 win over Northwestern (21-28, 10-9 Big Ten).

• Michigan, Minnesota and Purdue are tied for first in the Big Ten with 11-8 records, while Northwestern (10-9) is fourth, with four teams tied for fifth at 9-10.

• This is the 30th win of the season for the Wolverines and marks the 15th consecutive season with at least 30 wins for Rich Maloney, who is in his 15th season as a head coach and eighth season at Michigan.

• Junior OF Ryan LaMarre, who is hitting .404 (42-for-104), was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. LaMarre tripled and scored the tying run at 3-3 in the sixth inning and his run-scoring single in the seventh inning proved to be his fourth game-winning RBI of the season and his 10th career 'gamer.'

• LaMarre, who is hitting .431 (29-for-66) in Big Ten play, has 13 multi-hit games in overall action this season and he has 43 career multiple-hit games.

• Junior RHP Tyler Burgoon (6-3, 3.28 ERA, nine saves) worked two scoreless innings, allowing one hit to collect his ninth save of the season.

• Burgoon's nine saves snap his tie for third on U-M's single-season saves list with Michael Powers (8 saves, 2008) and Todd Marion (8 saves, 1990 and 1993). Burgoon is one shy of the record 10 saves shared by Marion (1992) and Tyler Steketee (1997)

• Burgoon leads the Wolverines in appearances (20), strikeouts (67), wins (6) and saves (9).

• Burgoon is 4-2 with nine saves in his 17 appearances since moving back to the bullpen after the North Carolina series at the start of March.

• Burgoon has 18 career saves to rank second on Michigan's career saves list. The record is 32 saves by Todd Marion (1990-93).

• Senior/junior 2B Anthony Toth, who is hitting .302 (58-for-192), was 3-for-4 for his second three-hit game of the week and sixth of the season. Toth has 17 multi-hit games this season and 36 for his career. Toth also paced U-M's defense with five putouts and four assists in nine fielding chances. Toth leads the team with 152 assists.

• Senior C Chris Berset, who is hitting .376 (68-for-181) to lead the team, was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Berset leads the Wolverines with 26 multi-hit games this season and has 49 in his U-M career.

• Senior/junior RHP Matt Gerbe (2-0, 2.70 ERA) worked a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one hit to earn his second win of the season. Gerbe, who leads the team his 2.70 ERA, is 3-1 in his U-M career.

• Sophomore 3B John Lorenz, who is hitting .272 (43-for-158), was 1-for-4 with a double to extend his personal, season-best hitting streak to five games. Lorenz, who has three doubles and a triple in two games this week, has 12 doubles for the season.

• Freshman OF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .316 (60-for-190), was 0-for-2 with a pair of walks and scored two runs, including the winning run to snap a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning.

• Biondi walked to lead off the first inning for the Wolverines and scored on a fielder's choice grounder by Ryan LaMarre, giving U-M a 1-0 lead. Biondi, who leads the Wolverines with 60 runs scored this season, has scored leading off U-M's first inning 18 times in U-M's 48 games in 2010.
