June 7, 2013 -- Minor League Update -- Brandon Sinnery was named to the Midwest League All-Star team Wednesday afternoon (June 5). The game will be played on June 18 in Dayton, Ohio. Sinnery currently is 3-2 with a 2.90 ERA in 11 appearances. He is coming off a win June 6 against Lake County, striking out four and allowing just three hits and a run in seven innings of work.
May 30, 2013 -- Zach Putnam was called up by the Chicago Cubs this afternoon, giving the Maize and Blue five players currently on MLB rosters. Putnam has four saves on the season for the Iowa Cubs this year, including one against Oklahoma City on May 25.
May 30, 2013 -- Minor League Update -- Tyler Burgoon is 3-1 on the season for Jackson, Seattle's Double-A affiliate in the Southern League. Burgoon has a pair of saves and 24 strikeouts in 14.1 innings pitched ... Brandon Sinnery is 2-2 with a 2.29 ERA for South Bend, Arizona's Low-A affiliate in the Midwest League. He earned the win on May 26 against Lansing, striking out three in seven innings of work.
April 25, 2013 -- Minor League Update -- Tyler Burgoon has a save and 14 strikeouts in six appearances and 8.2 innings for Jackson, the Double-A affiliate of Seattle, in the Southern League ... Jake Fox is hitting .391 with two home runs and five runs scored for Somerset of the Atlantic League ... Bobby Korecky has a 2-0 record and six strikeouts in four appearances for Buffalo, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets in the International League ... Brandon Sinnery has 13 strikeouts and has not allowed a run in 13 innings of work for South Bend, the Low-A affiliate of Arizona in the Midwest League.
April 2, 2012 -- The 2013 Major League Baseball season has started and features four Wolverines on Opening Day rosters. Chris Getz, J.J. Putz, Clayton Richard and Rich Hill all made their team's 25-man roster. Getz played and started at second base for Kansas City in yesterday's 1-0 loss to the White Sox. Richard will pitch for San Diego tomorrow (Wednesday, April 3) against the New York Mets. Oct. 4, 2012 -- The 2012 Major League Baseball regular season is in the books. Clayton Richard finished the season with a 14-14 record for the San Diego Padres in 33 starts. His final win of 2012 came on Sept. 20 against Arizona, striking out three in six innings of work. J.J. Putz collected 32 saves for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 57 appearances and had a 2.82 ERA. Putz's final save of 2012 occurred at Colorado on Sept. 23. He struck out a pair in an inning of work in his final appearance against the Rockies on Oct. 3. Chris Getz ended the season with a .275 batting average in 64 games. Getz ended the season on the disabled list, playing his final game on Aug. 17. Rich Hill went 1-0 with a 1.83 ERA in 25 games for the Boston Red Sox in 2012. He struck out a pair of batters in an inning of work in his final appearance of the season at New York on Oct. 2.
Sept. 19, 2012 -- J.J. Putz picked up his 30th save of the season in Arizona's 3-2 win over San Diego on Sept. 18. On the season, Putz has a 3.06 ERA in 52 appearances with 59 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched ... Clayton Richard has made 30 starts for the San Diego Padres and sports a 13-12 record with a 3.74 ERA. Richard defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Sept. 12, striking out five in seven innings of work in a 3-2 win ... Chris Getz is hitting .275 on the year with 10 doubles, three triples and 17 RBI. Getz went 2-for-3 against Baltimore on Sept. 10 ... Rich Hill struck out a pair of batters in an inning of work at Tampa Bay on Sept. 17. Hill is 1-0 with 16 strikouts in 17.2 innings in 2012.
Sept. 19, 2012 -- Minor League Update -- Adam Abraham was named the Most Valuable Player in the Eastern League championship series as the Akron Aeros defeated the Trenton Thunder in four games. Abraham went 5-for-14 with a home run, two triples and five RBI in the four games ... Chris Berset will be playing for Great Britain in the upcoming World Baseball Classic qualifier in Germany. Great Britain will face Canada, Germany and the Czech Repubic in the round-robin tournament. The champion will play in the 2013 World Baseball Classic in March.
