ROSEMONT, Ill. -- University of Michigan sophomore left-handed pitcher Evan Hill (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./Mt. Pleasant) has been named the Big Ten Baseball Pitcher of the Week, while freshman lefthanded pitcher Brett Adcock (Kawkawlin, Mich./Bay City Western) was named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced today (Tuesday, May 13). Hill and Adcock helped the Maize and Blue to a 4-1 record on the week, including a series win against Ohio State (May 9-11).

Hill threw 12 shutout innings in a pair of wins over Central Michigan (May 6) and Ohio State (May 10). Against CMU, the Mt. Pleasant, Mich., native returned home and struck out five in four hitless innings in Michigan's 7-1 win. Hill then earned his fourth win of the season in a 5-1 win over Ohio State. He tied a season high by going eight innings, scattering five hits and striking out three while not allowing a run. Hill lowered his season earned-run average to 3.58 and now has 51 strikeouts on the season, which are second on the team.

Adcock made his third career start a memorable one as Michigan defeated Ohio State 4-1 on May 11. He pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out a career-high seven batters. He also threw an inning against Oakland (May 7), striking out a pair and allowing an unearned run. Adcock has made a team-high 24 appearances his freshman season and leads the team with seven wins to go along with 49 strikeouts in 43.1 innings pitched.

In other specialty awards, Sam Travis of Indiana was named the Big Ten Player of the Week, while Adcock shared the freshman honor with Ohio State's Tanner Tully.

Michigan hosts UIC on Tuesday night (May 13) at 6 p.m. at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.
