LUBBOCK, Texas -- University of Michigan baseball sophomore infielder/righthanded pitcher Jacob Cronenworth (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair) has been selected to the 10-man John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List, the National College Baseball Hall of Fame announced this afternoon (Tuesday, May 20).
Cronenworth heads into the Big Ten Tournament hitting .265 with five doubles, four triples, two home runs, 27 runs batted in and 40 runs scored. He also leads the Big Ten with 40 walks and is tied for the conference lead with 11 sacrifice hits. He also has 19 stolen bases, which is tied for the team lead. The sophomore has excelled on the mound, garnering 11 saves with a 1.85 earned run average and 26 strikeouts in 24.1 innings pitched.
The award, named for the Washington State star who achieved success as both a first baseman and a left-handed pitcher, will be presented as part of the annual College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions on June 28 in Lubbock, Texas.

Michigan now turns its attention to the 2014 Big Ten Tournament at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. The Wolverines, the fifth seed in the tournament, open postseason play against No. 4 seed Minnesota Wednesday night (May 21) at 9 p.m. CDT (10 p.m. EDT) with the game televised on the Big Ten Network.
