OMAHA, Neb. -- University of Michigan baseball sophomore Travis Maezes (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) was named to the 13-man Big Ten All-Tournament team, it was announced after Sunday's (May 25) tournament championship game in Omaha, Neb.
Maezes hit .429 with a pair of triples, a home run and five runs batted in in Michigan's four tournament games at TD Ameritrade Park. He started the Big Ten Tournament with a bang as his three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning was the difference in the win over Minnesota (May 21). He had a walk in four plate appearances against No. 9 Indiana on Thursday (May 22) before going 3-for-5 with a pair of triples and two RBI in the 7-1 win over Iowa Friday night (May 23). Maezes ended his tournament run with a single, a walk and a hit-by-pitch against Nebraska (May 24). He also played stellar defense at shortstop, recording 14 assists and three putouts without an error.
Michigan went 2-2 in the tournament, reaching the semifinals with wins over Minnesota and Iowa. The Wolverines were 30-29-1 overall and 13-11 in Big Ten play, good for a tie for fourth place in the league.
