ANN ARBOR, Mich. C Tyler Mills, who will join the University of Michigan baseball team as a freshman next season, was named co-Mr. Baseball for the state of Michigan, announced Thursday (June 19) by the Michigan High School Coaches Association.

Mills, a 6-3 starting pitcher/centerfielder, led Mt. Pleasant High School to a runner-up finish in the state baseball finals and an overall record of 35-4 during his senior campaign. On the mound he posted a record of 12-2 and held an ERA of 1.50 during the first 27 games of the season. Mills also helped the Oilers to their third consecutive Saginaw Valley League championship.

During the past three years, Mills and the Oilers have only dropped three conference games.

In addition to being named co-Mr. Baseball, Mills was named Michigan's Gatorade Player of the Year on May 28.

Mills and the seven-member freshman class will join a U-M squad that has won three consecutive Big Ten Conference regular season titles and reached the NCAA Tournament four straight seasons.
