Aug. 19, 2013 -- Brett Winger wrapped up his season with the Newport Gulls of the NECBL, helping them to the championship series before falling to Keene. Winger hit .247 with a pair of doubles and eight RBI in 31 games for Newport ... Trent Szkutnik also helped his team, the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod League to the championship series, falling to Cotuit 2-0. Szkutnik had a 3-1 record with a 1.71 ERA in the regular season for the Firebirds. He struck out 30 in 36.2 innings pitched and was selected to the Cape Cod League All-Star Game ... Cam Wysocki pitched in eight games for the Battle Creek Bombers of the Northwoods League and saved his best outing for last. Wysocki struck out six and allowed just one earned run in seven innings of work in a win at Wisconsin Rapids on Aug. 11.

July 31, 2013 -- Trent Szkutnik participated in the Cape Cod League All-Star Game, striking out a pair in the seventh inning to help the East team defeat the West on July 27. Szkutnik then earned the win on the mound for Orleans, pitching five innings in a 2-0 win over Cotuit on July 30 ... Logan McAnallen finished up the season at Peninsula of the Alaska League with a 1.14 earned-run average and 37 strikeouts in 39.1 innings pitched. He made nine starts for the Oilers ... Evan Hill, who has won his last four starts, allowed just one hit and struck out four in seven innings of work for Sanford of the NECBL in a 6-0 win over Mystic on July 23.

July 20, 2013 -- Trent Szkutnik has been named to the Cape Cod League All-Star Game, set for Saturday (July 27) at Yarmouth, Mass. The game will be televised on Fox College Sports. Szkutnik leads the Orleans Firebirds and is fifth in the league with a 1.03 earned-run average. He is 2-1 with 21 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched. Szkutnik becomes the second Wolverine in as many years to make the Cape League All-Star Game. Last year, Patrick Biondi made it from the Cotuit Kettleers.

July 16, 2013 -- Cole Martin has been selected to the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star team. He will start at catcher for the East squad. Martin, who plays for the Sanford Mainers, is hitting .250 with three doubles and eight RBI for the Mainers ... Logan McAnallen earned the win for the Peninsula Oilers on July 12 against the Anchorage Bucs. He went seven innings, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts in the 5-0 shutout. July 10, 2013 -- Jay Perry was named to the Great Lakes League All-Star team, which takes place Wednesday (July 10) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Perry will play on the North team in the event. Perry, who plays for the Lake Erie Monarchs, has a 0.62 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 14.1 innings pitched. He also has two saves for the Monarchs.

July 9, 2013 -- Cole Martin was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI in Sanford's 16-2 win over Laconia on July 7 in the NECBL ... Trent Szkutnik earned the win on the mound for Orleans in the Cape Cod League on July 3 vs. Chatham. Szkutnik went five innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five for the Firebirds.

July 3, 2013 -- Logan McAnallen struck out eight and did not allow a run in five innings of work in Peninsula's 3-2 win over Chugiak in the Alaska League ... Brett Winger has returned to action for the Newport Gulls of the NECBL. He is hitting .364 in six games for the Gulls ... Cole Martin went 5-for-6 for Sanford in the NEBCL in a 4-3 win at Danbury on June 26 ... Zach Zott had had two hits apiece in the last three games, including going 2-for-4 with two walks for Saratoga vs. Sanford in the NECBL.

June 25, 2013 -- Zach Zott drove in six runs for the Saratoga Brigade of the NECBL in an 8-3 win over Plymouth on June 23 ... James Bourque struck out seven in the Sanford Mainers' contest against Ocean State in the NECBL on June 21 ... Jay Perry struck out the side in an inning of relief for the Lake Erie Monarchs of the Great Lakes League at Xenia on June 21 ... Donnie Eaton has 20 strikeouts in 15.1 innings pitched and a 1.37 ERA for the Michigan Rams.

June 21, 2013 -- Collegiate summer baseball leagues are underway, and Michigan players are still producing. Three Wolverines play for the Sanford Mainers of the NECBL: James Bourque has yet to give up an earned run through 7.2 innings pitched, Evan Hill has two no-decisions in two starts, and Cole Martin is batting .250 with four runs batted in in nine games ... There are also two players on the Saratoga Brigade of the NECBL: Dylan Delaney has a hit in a pair of games, while Zach Zott is hitting .200 with three RBI through seven games ... The final Wolverine in NECBL is Matt Ogden, playing for the Danbury Westerners. In his first start on June 14, he got the win, going seven innings and giving up one run while striking out nine ... Mike Dolloff is 2-1 in three starts with 12 strikeouts and a 1.12 earned-run average for the Lake Erie Monarchs of the Great Lakes Summer League ... Also on the Monarchs is Jay Perry, who earned his first save on June 11 against the Great Lakes Mariners, pitching two innings and giving up no hits and no runs ... Logan McAnallen is playing for the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Baseball League. He is 1-0 in two starts with a 2.00 ERA ... Representing Michigan for the Bayside Yankees Senior Scout team, Jack Sexton is batting .368 with eight RBIs in seven games. He went 2-3 with a triple and two RBI against Legends Baseball Weekend in New England on June 15 ... Trent Szkutnik has yet to give up a run for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He has pitched five innings for the Firebirds and has five strikeouts ... Playing for the Battle Creek Bombers of the Northwoods League, Cam Wysocki has struck out eight batters in 13.1 innings of work.
