ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball program and head coach Erik Bakich announced today (Thursday, July 12) that right-handed pitcher Alex Daar (Clinton Twp., Mich./University Liggett) will continue his academic and athletic career at U-M beginning in the fall of 2012.
"We are thrilled to add Alex to this year's recruiting class," Bakich said. "He had a tremendous amount of success on the field this year and is very deserving of the Mr. Baseball award. We look forward to his contributions as a pitcher in Maize and Blue."
Daar was the Co-Mr. Baseball in the state of Michigan in 2012, going 16-1 on the mound for the Knights his senior season. He also was 12-2 on the hill as a junior for University Liggett. Daar was selected to the All-State first team and the MSHBCA Dream Team. He helped the Knights to a state championship in 2011 and a runner-up finish in 2012. He is a two-time Michigan Independent Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player and played in the MSHBCA East-West All-Star Game in June at Comerica Park in Detroit, Mich. Daar graduated Magna Cum Laude from University Liggett and earned the Scholar-Athlete Award at the school.
