The game was a seven-inning contest at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.
Zott's home run gave the Maize a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. His round-tripper brought in sophomore Kevin White (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield), who singled with one out in the second. Maize then put up three runs in the fourth. Freshman Matthew Dacey (Wyckoff, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) walked and went to second on a wild pitch. White then walked and both runners stole a base. Zott brought home Dacey with a single and sophomore Mike Dolloff (Davison, Mich./Davison) plated two with a sacrifice bunt.
The Blue team came back with a run in the bottom of the fourth as junior Michael O'Neill (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) walked, stole second and scored on a single from freshman Jack Sexton (Goldens Bridge, N.Y./Fordham Prep). The Blue team scored twice in the fifth as sophomore Kyle Jusick (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) singled, moved to third on walks by sophomore Dominic Jamett (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./University Liggett School) and junior Alex Lakatos (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Holls Central) and scored on a fielder's choice from freshman Jacob Cronenworth (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair). Jamett scored off freshman Travis Maezes' (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) single.
The Maize team added a run in the sixth as White singled, moved to third on a Zott single and scored on a fielder's choice from sophomore Eric Jacobson (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius Prep).
