ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- With five players contributing in double-digit scoring, the University of Michigan men's basketball team (No. 5 AP, No. 5 ESPN/USA Today) routed IUPUI, 91-54, in its first-round game of the NIT Season Tip-Off on Monday night (Nov. 12) inside Crisler Center.

Behind a 20-2 run late in the game, the Wolverines scored 46 points in the second half to double up the Jaguars over the final 20 minutes.

Sophomore guard Trey Burke (Columbus, Ohio/Northland HS) finished with 22 points and nine assists, while freshman guard Glenn Robinson III (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) scored 21 points on 8-of-9 (89 percent) shooting. Also contributing in the double-digit scoring effort were freshman guard Nik Stauskas (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada/St. Mark's School [Mass.]) with 11, junior guard Tim Hardaway Jr. (Miami, Fla./Palmetto Senior) with 10 and senior/junior forward Jordan Morgan (Detroit, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit) with 10.

With Michigan holding a slight 12-9 lead four minutes into the game, Robinson scored six straight points, starting with a two-handed, reverse dunk off an assist by Burke, to put U-M up seven (18-11). The Jaguars, however, responded with an 8-0 run to cut their deficit to 23-22 at the 10:16 mark.

After nearly even play over the next nine minutes, two triples each by Robinson and Stauskas helped U-M extend its lead to 10 points, 41-31. A layup and a pair of free throws from Burke down the stretch aided in Michigan entering the halftime break leading, 45-31.

U-M shot 15-of-23 (65 percent) from the field in the half, including 7-of-10 (70 percent) from behind the arc. Robinson shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor to tally up 16 first-half points, while Burke added 13 points and seven assists.

After single-digit runs for both teams out of the locker room, U-M held a 55-42 lead over IUPUI at the 15:00 mark. The teams swapped baskets over the next five minutes of play, but Michigan's next five baskets consisted of dunks from Robinson, Hardaway and Morgan, as well as triples by Burke and Stauskas to extend its lead to 21 (67-46).

The Wolverines then went on a 20-2 run over the final 5:32 of the game while keeping the Jaguars without a field goal for 5:36. The run started with an old-fashioned three-point play by junior/sophomore forward Jon Horford (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge) and was capped by consecutive triples from freshman guard Spike Albrecht (Crown Point, Ind./Northfield Mount Hermon Prep [Mass.]) and senior guards Corey Person (Kalamazoo, Mich./Central) and Eso Akunne (Ann Arbor, Mich./Gabriel Richard).

The Wolverines will return to Crisler tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 13) for their second-round game of the NIT Season Tip-Off when they host Cleveland State. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
