Michigan won its first game at Madison Square Garden in the NIT Season Tip-Off after going a previous 0-4. Overall, U-M is 8-5 in NIT Season Tip-Off games.
With the win, John Beilein is now 9-8 at Madison Square Garden. He is 2-1 at MSG with the Wolverines.
Michigan trailed for the first time at the half this season, 33-29.
U-M outrebounded Pittsburgh, 37-26. The Wolverines have outrebounded their opponents by 10 or more in each of their first four games.
Michigan held Pittsburgh to just two offensive rebounds in the second half after allowing four in the first half.
Nik Stauskas (15) scored in double figures for the third straight game, while Glenn Robinson III (13) scored in double figures for the third time this season. Stauskas' 15 points matched a career high.
With Trey Burke's six assists in the win, he has now had five or more assists in each game this season.
Josh Bartelstein did not dress for the game due to an ankle injury suffered in the season opener against Slippery Rock on Nov. 9.
Michigan has had nine or fewer turnovers in three of four games this season -- nine vs. Slippery Rock, 10 vs. Cleveland State and nine in today's win over Pittsburgh.
Jordan Morgan led Michigan in rebounds with a season-high eight.
