ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan junior guard Manny Harris (Detroit, Mich./Redford) was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award and was selected as a Mid-season Top 30 finalist for the John R. Wooden Award.

In the 2009-10 season, Harris has scored in double figures in 12-of-13 games, scoring 20-plus points in six. He leads U-M and the Big Ten Conference with 19.8 points per game. In addition, he leads U-M in rebounding (7.0, t-4th in Big Ten), assists (4.9, 3rd in Big Ten), steals (1.8, 4th in Big Ten) and minutes (35.2, 5th in Big Ten). During the preseason, Harris was named to the Preseason Wooden Award and Naismith Award watch lists as well as earning Preseason All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season.

In the season opener against Northern Michigan on Nov. 14, Harris became only the second player in U-M history to record a triple-double, scoring 18 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists. The only other player to accomplish the feat was Gary Grant (1985-88), who had 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against North Carolina on March 14, 1987. In total, Harris has posted three total double-doubles this season.

Harris, who has started 80 straight contests, currently ranks 23rd on U-M's all-time scoring list with 1,364 points and became just the 12th Wolverine to eclipse the 300-assist plateau for his career, doing so against Ohio State (Jan. 3). Already in U-M's all-time top 10 for free throws and free throw attempts, Harris is close to cracking the top 10 for three-point field goals, assists, steals and minutes played. He is also just 37 rebounds away from joining U-M's 500-rebound club.

The Bob Cousy Award honors the nation's top point guard and is named after Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtics great Bob Cousy. Harris is one of 20 remaining players in contention for the award, as the list will be cut down to 10 by Feb, 1 and then five by March 1. The winner will be announced on Monday, April 5, in Indianapolis, Ind., as part of NCAA Final Four weekend.

The John R. Wooden Award is college basketball's most coveted honor, annually going to the nation's top college basketball player. Votes will be cast in March to determine the 10-member All-America Team and Player of the Year, with both being announced in late March. The winner will be honored April 9, 2010.
