The Wolverines opened the conference season on the road at Penn State, where Robinson, the ESPN Player of the Game, helped the Wolverines hold on for the four-point victory (67-63), scoring a crucial 14 of his 16 points in the second half. He also had five rebounds and three steals while drawing the assignment of playing the Nittany Lions guard Brandon Watkins. Robinson's 5-for-5 free throw shooting was key down the stretch for the Maize and Blue as Penn State made a late charge.
Robinson followed that performance with an all-around effort in a home triumph over Purdue (79-75), producing a game-high 20 points along with seven rebounds, a career-high six assists and a pair of steals. He also recorded his first block of the season and again went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, including two free throws with five seconds remaining to seal the four-point win for the Wolverines.
For the season, he is averaging 12.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals a game. He has hit 13 consecutive free throws and has just four missed attempts this season, as he is 34-for-38 (89.5 percent).
The Wolverines (6-5, 2-0 Big Ten) continue their season at Minnesota on Wednesday (Jan. 9) at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
