SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- University of Michigan men's basketball sophomore guard Trey Burke (Columbus, Ohio/Northland HS) has been named one of 20 finalists for the 2013 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award today (Wednesday, Jan. 9) by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

This season, Burke has led Michigan to a perfect 15-0 start, the NIT Season Tip-Off title and a No. 2 national ranking. He leads U-M with 18.2 points per game as he is the only Wolverines to score in double figures in all 15 games with six 20-plus point performances.

He leads U-M and the Big Ten and ranks sixth in the nation with 7.5 assists per game as he has 14 games with five-plus assists including three games of 10 or more. Over his last 10 games, Burke has recorded 79 assists (7.9 apg) to just 11 total turnovers. He is also averaging a career best for field goal percentage (54.6), three-point percentage (40.6) and free throw percentage (76.7).

A two-time Big Ten Player of the Week, Burke has recorded three point-assist double-doubles with the most recent coming against Iowa with 19 points and a career-best 12 assists. That performance against the Hawkeyes helped him earn the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week by the USWBA.

Candidates for the Cousy Award will be narrowed down to a final 10 around Feb. 1, and final five by approximately March 1. A premier Selection Committee has been appointed by the Hall of Fame to review the final five candidates in contention for the nation's top collegiate point guard award.
