Sophomore guard Josh Bartelstein will give an inside look all season at the 2010-11 version of the Wolverines.
What's up everybody!
Another top ranked opponent, and very close loss at home. We got off to a great start against Minnesota, but their size and rebounding really hurt us down the stretch. We just have to keep working, and I know it will pay off.
The best part about playing in the Big Ten is every game you have a chance to beat a really good opponent. We have a job to go into East Lansing on Thursday and start a new streak. There will be no better feeling then leaving the Breslin Center with a win.
I have students ask me all the time, "Do you guys watch the games you play?" I tell all of them the same thing. We watch more film than any team in the country, and our coaches break down more film than any coaching staff in the country.
From Coach Beilein to all three assistants, they spend their lives finding ways for us to be better. We have a great video equipment guy in Pete (make sure you check out his new haircut), who cuts every game into clips depending on position. We pretty much have it all covered.
How about this ...
Some people on our team often suggest I struggle with simple tasks that the normal human beings find pretty easy. I tend to believe it is extremely over exaggerated, but yesterday, a pretty good example did show up. My car needed a wash really bad, so after practice I headed down to the gas station.
After pulling my car in and all the soap being poured over my car, the light was still red, meaning don't move. So I did just that and stayed in my spot. (Zack) Novak and company insist the light had to be green, but I'll stick to my story of a red light.
Anyway to make a long story short, as I was pulling my car out, the doors closed and half my car was stuck half inside and half outside. I was convinced my life was going to end as either the doors were going to close on me or something would blow up.
Thank god for Sammy, the gas station attendant, as he came in and saved the day. Without him, I may not be writing this blog right now.
Next up ...
As the end of January rolls around, it means one thing. There is a good chance Jordan (Morgan) will be getting a new phone. Jordan loves accessories and he really loves phones. Since I've met him, I'd say he has had five or six different phones. Some people like (Matt) Vogrich always break their phone and need a new one, but Jordan doesn't ever break it, he just gets sick of it.
The best story with Jordan and phones happened last year. I walked into the locker room one day and there was Jordan intently typing a paper on the computer. I figured he had some big assignment and was just trying to finish it up. Wrong!
Jordan was entering a contest to win a free phone. He had everyone on our team read it and give him advice. My advice was this: 10 people win and thousands upon thousands enter the contest. You are wasting your time. He assured me I was wrong and he would win the free phone. Guess who ended up being right. (It wasn't him).
A little help ...
Last thing, speaking about Pete and his haircut, the one thing I don't like about Ann Arbor is there is no place to get a haircut. I have had my hair butchered too many times. So if anyone knows a place or wants to help out a Wolverine, let me know.
Hopefully we can get a great win Thursday.
Keep sending in your questions to askjbart20@gmail.com as next time I'll answer some of them.
