ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Ticket Department has announced the Michigan men's basketball team will play before back-to-back sellout crowds of 13,751 at Crisler Arena when it takes on No. 1 Illinois, Tuesday (Feb. 8) and then intrastate rival No. 10 Michigan State, Saturday (Feb. 12). Both games will be shown on ESPN.
With the two sellout crowds, it will mark the third time this season Crisler Arena has packed the house. Earlier this season, the Wolverines sold out the Wisconsin game (Jan. 22).
The last time the Wolverines had three sellout crowds during a season was during the 1999-2000 season, when the Maize and Blue played Duke, Michigan State, Ohio State and Indiana. The last time the Maize and Blue had back-to-back sellouts was also in 1999-2000 season with the games against Michigan State and Ohio State. In fact, the Wolverines sold out three straight games that season with the Indiana game.
With ESPN featuring Rivalry Week games, the Wolverines will face the Fighting Illini as part of Super Tuesday (Feb. 8) at 7 p.m. The Maize and Blue will then play Michigan State, Saturday (Feb. 12) at 4 p.m.
