Michigan Head Coach Tommy Amaker
Opening statement ... "I really thought it was a real team effort on our part. We needed that. We played with great team energy on the defensive end and that resulted in some easy baskets. I was really pleased that we got to see Chris Hunter. I am anxious to see if we can continue this through the rest of the season. I thought we played tough, we played hard and we played together. If we can continue to do that we will be a good team down the stretch here."
On taking care of the ball ... "I thought we took good care of the ball. We did a heck of a job in the first half. They were hot from three in the first half, but with our great defensive pressure on the perimeter in the second half they only hit one. We made that a point at halftime."
On the team effort ... "I think we are a team that needed a win. We needed to play well and tonight we did some good things, both offensively and defensively. We need that again in our next game. The medicine was good for this team tonight."
On Daniel Horton ... "Daniel's minutes were what a point guard's should be. He played really good defense and his stat line was terrific. He took care of the ball except for one possession late in the game. He came out hot in the first half and then settled in to his role as the point guard and had some really good assists."
On Bernard Robinson Jr.'s efforts ... "I told our players that Bernard set the tone for us in the second half. He found some people in great spots on the floor in transition and that was the catalyst for us in the second half. Daniel (Horton) did that for us in the first half, but Bernard was the leader in the second half."
U-M Senior Bernard Robinson Jr.
On the game ... "I think we played a complete game. I think we did pretty well with moving the ball, finding the open man and knocking down our shots. We played excellent defense."
On the importantce of win after two road losses ... "We have to get all of our victories at home, all four of them. This is stepping stone towards where we need to go with the next three home games. We had to secure this victory and we did."
U-M Sophomore Daniel Horton
On the importance of playing a complete second half ... "It was important. Its something that we haven't done in a long time. For us to do that, it was something that we needed. We had to play well so that we can come out prepared and focused for Sunday."
On the balanced offense ... "We played unselfish. Our goal was to try and come in and get 20 assists. I don't know if we did that but we shared the ball very well. A lot of guys go an opportunity to score. It was a good team effort."
U-M Sophomore Chris Hunter
On getting back into the flow ... "It felt alright. I was able to get some solid minutes and I was able to do a couple of things out there well on the floor. It felt good and I would like to build on it."
On the victory ... "I think it was a great win for us. We are happy about the win but we aren't satisfied. We have to focus on the game against Wisconsin. This is a good win for us. We showed some great things in the second half that we haven't showed all year."
