THURSDAY,FEB.24-- Bid ToRaise Money for Manager Scholarship
When the Michigan Basketball program celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 1989 National Championship team, the Wolverines created replica jerseys for the game. Following the game against Ohio State (Jan. 17), eight of those jerseys were auctioned off to assist the endowed scholarship for student managers: the Joel Portnoy Basketball Manager Scholarship Fund. In total, the eight jerseys raised $9,330 towards the fund.
With the success of the jersey auction, the Michigan Athletic Department and men's basketball team will auction off two photographs created by Adam Jacobs Photography. Each photo is a panoramic view of the Crisler Arena floor highlighted with the 1989 banner. All the members of the 1989 team who were in attendance signed the commemorative photo.
