ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- University of Michigan sophomore guard Trey Burke (Columbus, Ohio/Northland HS) was announced today (Monday, March 4) as one of 14 finalist for the 2013 Oscar Robertson National Player of the Year trophy presented by Aflac and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USWBA).

Burke has guided U-M to a 24-5 overall mark with an 11-5 record in Big Ten play. He is averaging career bests for points (18.9), assists (6.93), field goal percentage (49.5), three-point field goal percentage (38.5), free throw percentage (79.5) and steals (1.55). Burke has scored in double figures in all 29 games this season, including 10 20-plus point games. He is the only Big Ten player to score 15-plus points in every conference game and became the 47th Wolverine and just the seventh U-M sophomore to eclipse 1,000 career points.

He leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.59) and currently has 201 assists on the season, helping him become just the fourth U-M player to have 200-plus in a season. He leads the Big Ten with 6.9 assists per game, which ranks ninth in the country, and could become the first Big Ten player to average more than 17 points and seven assists since Magic Johnson.

The recipients will be announced on Friday, April 5, 2103 in Atlanta and then formally presented at the Devon Energy College Basketball Awards on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
