KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- University of Michigan men's basketball freshman guard Trey Burke (Columbus, Ohio/Northland HS) was named to the 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 7 Second Team today (Wednesday, March 14).

In addition to the NABC honor, Burke was named to the CBSSports.com All-America Second Team and Freshman All-America Team. He was one of just four freshmen named to both lists.

One of two freshmen on the five-man All-District 7 Second Team list, along with Indiana's Cody Zeller, Burke continues to add to his impressive list of postseason accolades, including Big Ten Freshman of the Year (media), All-Big Ten second team (coaches & media), All-Big Ten Freshman team (unanimous selection) and USBWA All-District V Team as well as earning seven Big Ten Freshman of the Week selections and one Player of the Week honor during the regular season.

In his freshman campaign, Burke is averaging 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists. He has scored in double figures 29 times, breaking the 20-point barrier five times and the 30-point mark once -- a career-high 30-point performance against Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal. With his 151 assists, Burke broke U-M's 27-year-old record for freshman assists in a single season, previously held by U-M legend Gary Grant (140, 1984-85).

Michigan recently earned its highest seed in the NCAA Tournament, No. 4, since the 1997-98 season and will face 13th-seeded Ohio University in the second round on Friday (March 16) at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Tipoff is slated for 6:20 p.m. CDT and the game will be televised on the TNT.
